Research studies have focused on the study of MABT for multiple health conditions including Substance Dependency, Pain, PTSD, and HIV (see publications page).  Interested in the processes involved in learning mindful body awareness, Cynthia studies qualitative aspects and underlying mechanisms of the MABT approach. She is a co-author of two scales to measure interoceptive awareness: the Scale of Body Connection (SBC) and the Multidimensional Assessment of Interoceptive Awareness (MAIA). Committed to increasing health care access to underserved populations, Cynthia works with local and international programs to provide and improve complementary and integrative health care through her research, teaching, and service.

Carla Wiechman is a certified counselor and somatic therapist in private practice since 1991. She is trained as a Hakomi Body-Centered Therapist. Her clinical expertise includes recovery from trauma, chemical dependency, and eating disorders as well as acute and chronic pain conditions. Since 2008, Carla has been engaged in trainings, research and teaching MABT in collaboration with Dr. Price. Brian has a passion for the power of the innate wisdom of the body. He enjoys facilitating the journey to a stronger sense of connection, communication, and balance within--an interest that has informed his approach to massage and bodywork for twenty years.  Brian worked as a LMT at the Osher Center for Integrative Health at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee for many years, where he was involved in an implementation science study of MABT for patients with chronic pain. He enjoys facilitating the journey to a stronger sense of connection, communication, and balance within–an interest that has informed his approach to massage and bodywork for twenty years. Brian worked as a LMT at the Osher Center for Integrative Health at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee for many years, where he was involved in an implementation science study of MABT for patients with chronic pain. He is now in private practice in Nashville.
